Mormon's Fundraise For The Family Of The Man Who Attacked Them Last Sunday

Last Sunday a 40 year old man named Thomas Sanford drove his pickup truck filled with devices designed to start a fire into the front door of a Mormon Church and opened fire at the congregation in Grand Blanc Township, taking four lives and injuring eight more before police killed him. It was later revealed that Sanford had just told a man running for city council that he believed the Mormons were the antichrist.

Dave Butler, a Utah writer and a Mormon thought that act of hatred at his people deserved a response of love. Sanford left behind a wife and son. They would certainly need help now that he was gone. So Dave posted an online fundraiser for their family and made a $1000 donation. He had originally hoped to raise 100 grand for the family but as of this morning they're now over 332,000 with a new goal of 500k.

Butler says in his online post that followers are called to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction." The purpose of this GiveSendGo is to do that. Every donation will go to help provide for the Sanford family daily needs, provide for ongoing medical treatment, and create some stability in a time of heartbreak and upheaval. Thank you for your kindness, your compassion, and your willingness to lift up those who are suffering.
