Neighbors Rally To Stop Elderly Woman's Eviction

Friday morning around 10a movers showed up at an 83 year old woman’s home in Memphis and started moving her belongings to the curb. News Nation reports that the woman was confused because she has owned the townhouse for years and paid her property taxes. Her neighbors called the police and said there's a mistake being made. The Sherriff sent a civil levy commander who looked at the movers paperwork. He explained to the woman and the growing crowd that this was not coming from their department so without a court order they are powerless to stop the eviction.

Someone then called their county council rep. Yolanda Cooper-Sutton then was able to contact the court and get an immediate injunction ordered. They scrambled to get it woman's home. By now it was late in the day and about 90% of her belongings were sitting on the curb waiting for a trash truck or her to hire movers to remove them, whatever comes first.

The neighbors along with several police officers then went to work of moving everything back inside and trying to set it up as good if not better then it was before. The 83 year old told News Nation this was actually a blessing. "I really did have a lot of junk that should have been thrown out years ago. Thanks to this incident I got the junk out of my house. I also got to move my bed which I've wanted to do for years and my rearrange the dinning set".
