The Post reports that Danie Wright was walking her 4-month-old puppy Dax behind her home in Land O’ Lakes, about 20 miles north of Tampa, FL last week when the gator lunged out of a creek and snatched Dax.
Thankfully he clamped on little Dax's collar and not his head because he would be dead. As he dragged the dog back into the water 4 foot 11 Danie jumped on the 5'1" gator and started punching. “I just punched him, punched and punched. I punched him in the eye enough that he kind of let go … but his teeth dragged down my arm.”
Amazingly Danie was able to break free and has been treated at the hospital and besides a nasty scar will be fine.
The gator was tracked down and neutralized according to DNR.
