Glenwood, Iowa, three Construction workers noticed smoke coming from a house while driving by.
John Lewis, Gabe Record, and Damian Pond, ran into the house and carried out a mother, grandmother, and four-year-old girl before a blast of flames injured both Gabe and Damian Record and Pond.
Neighbor John Vandevoorde heard the blast and ran over to help treat the men
Back to John Lewis who was working on reviving the mom, the 4 year old girl asked about her brother. "Your brother was home? Where was he?" ""He's upstairs in his room.
His window was on the backside of the house so the 2 John's ran to the back and sure enough a terrified boy was crying out the open window as smoke poured out.
They told him to jump and they would catch him, but he was too afraid. Then John Lewis saw a trampoline and they dragged into place under the window. With heavy smoke filling the home and flames spreading the boy now felt confident enough to leap.
The construction workers, who sustained burns, were treated and are expected to fully recover. While the home was completely destroyed, fortunately the entire family survived. Glenwood Fire Chief Matt Gray praised the construction workers’ bravery, saying it's not hard to predict this entire family would have been lost without their heroic acts.
