The 7 A's Are The Keys To Youth

David Cravit and Larry Wolf literally wrote the book on the topic of feeling young as you grow old. “The SuperAging Workbook,” reveals the seven A’s of superaging - their seven steps to live a healthier and and more fulfilling life in middle age and beyond.

These seven A’s are the key to making your golden years the best ones of your life, according to Cravit and Wolf:

  1. Attitude - Having a positive outlook and a concrete vision of the future is essential. “People with positive attitudes outlive those with negative ones,” the authors say. “That can be a motivator in and of itself.” Attitude is so important, the superagers say it’s the foundation for all the other A’s and without it, they won’t work as effectively.
  2. Awareness - Superagers are methodical and deliberate when it comes to gathering, analyzing and critically evaluating information, they don’t just accept it. The authors point out that staying aware can be tough in the 24/7 news cycle, but they advise keeping up with the latest treatments, products and services that can help health challenges, and knowing which sources you can really trust.
  3. Activity - Exercising the body and the mind is crucial and superagers do it. That can include learning about and trying new activities and innovations in nutrition, fitness, and overall wellness.
  4. Autonomy - Superagers know how important it is to maintain their physical independence, like staying in their home and being in charge of their finances for as long as possible.
  5. Accomplishment - Achievements don’t have to stop just because you’re getting older. Having goals and working to reach them is important at any age.
  6. Attachment - Loneliness and social isolation negatively impact health and lifespan, so maintaining relationships and forming new ones is essential.
  7. Avoidance - Knowing how to minimize risks from fraud, scams, and ageism in the marketplace is a skill superagers have perfected.⠀
