Boy Loses Home Run Ball. Home Team Responds

During the fourth inning at Friday’s Phillies-Marlins game in Miami, Phillies center fielder Harrison Bader hit a home run into the left-field stands. Drew Feltwell, who was at the game with his family for his son Lincoln’s upcoming 10th birthday, grabbed the ball and handed it to Lincoln. Soon after, an irate woman confronted them, claiming the ball was hers. To keep the peace, Drew handed the ball over to her in a moment that quickly went viral online.

A short while later, as the game continued, Marlins staff approached the Feltwells and gave Lincoln a swag bag to lift his spirits. Later, the Phillies invited the whole family to meet Bader after the team’s 9-3 victory. Outside the clubhouse, Bader spent time with Lincoln, signed a bat for him, and posed for photos with the family.

Feltwell says he’s glad his son still had a special memory, saying, “We ended up having a good night because of good people.” He adds that Lincoln plans to put Bader’s bat on his wall, and while he wishes his son still had the ball, he’s grateful for the outpouring of kindness.
