A few weeks ago 13-year-old Dakota “Cody” Trenkle Jr was skateboarding alone when he fell into a ravine near his house in MO! The only thing search parties had to go off was his skateboard which was found nearby the ravine. For 3 days people and K-9's searched. Their search unfortunately ended at the bottom of the ravine 240 feet below.
Rescue officials say it's physically impossible to survive a fall from that high. Compounded by the fact that he had been without food water or shelter for 3 days there was little hope that Cody was alive. But he was and actually conscious! Cody suffered a brain bleed, bruises, and dehydration, but to everyone's amazement had no broken bones!
He was airlifted to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St Louis, where he spent 11 days in a medically induced coma before waking this past Friday. His mother, Stephanie Neely, describes the moment she knew her son was going to recover, when he signed “I love you” to her, a family tradition. In the following days, the teen surprised his physical therapist by throwing a ball, passed a breathing trial, and was taken off the ventilator.
His doctor said “It’s still going to be a long process. But we’re on the right path now, and I just want everyone to keep their thoughts and prayers with him. He’s a miracle. I can only assume God has a very special mission for Cody because by every measure he should have died last week”.
