Parking Valet Saves Man In Gun Ambush

The Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, last week, was where Matt Sitler attended a bachelor party. As they were wrapping it up a deranged man named Dakota Hawver decided he was going to kill as many people as possible at the Casino. Police tell ABC News they haven't found any connection between the shooter, any of the victims or the resort. It appears he just wanted a place where there would be a lot of people to shoot.

As shots rang out, valet worker Kade Macedo saw Matt running toward him with a bloodstained shirt. Kade jumped out ran to Matt and helped him into the car. He drove him to the hospital and Doctors say every second was vital. The ambulances were delayed because the gun battle with police continued for another 10 minutes which probably contributed to the deaths of Matt's friends and a 66 year old man who all bled to death according to the coroner.

Matt’s father, Duane Sitler, praised Macedo for his bravery, saying he saved Matt’s life and showed courage in the face of danger. When the two men met in the hospital, they formed an immediate bond. The dad called it an emotional moment and said they would keep Macedo in their lives as they all heal together.

The valet said he’s grateful Matt is alive and wishes no one had to experience such a tragedy. He’s hopeful that his survival will help bring comfort to the grieving community. Matt’s now recovering well and in good spirits and his family has extended their love to other victims’ families. They’ve also promised continued support for Macedo and his own growing family.
