15-year-old Summer Hinote was swimming in Pond Creek which is about 25 miles outside of Destin in Florida. She says she felt something brush her leg which put her on high alert and a moment later a 10 foot gator bit down on her left thigh and went into a death roll. As he dragged her to the bottom of the pond trying to shake her to death Summer had one thought. Screw him! She was able to start kicking him with her free leg and when she got in a position to punch she punched as hard as she could. The gator wasn't expecting such a fight and was startled enough to relax his grip for a second in which she escaped. As she swam to the shore her friends could see him coming back for her and they ran into the water to scare him off. They drove her to the hospital where doctors were able to save her leg. She will have quite a big scar for the rest of her life and a great lesson to teach others. She says this will be a permanent reminder to keep fighting no matter what. If that killing machine had me at the bottom of the pond and couldn't finish me off, there's really nothing we can't overcome despite what it looks like at the time.
