Psychologists Name The Best TV Parent Role Models.

TV moms and dads always seem to solve the problem. Some of them do such a good job, they even get a thumb’s up from experts.

These are TV parents who show the kind of emotional intelligence, patience and boundary-setting child psychologists spend years studying and teaching.

  • Mike and Carol Brady - The mom and dad of “The Brady Bunch” were always calm, composed and had a wholesome life lesson to share. While it was sometimes tricky to have six kids from two previous marriages, they raised them with teamwork, open communication and mutual respect. Psychologist Dr. Joseph Laino says Mike and Carol are two of his favorites because while they weren’t perfect, they were “always quick to apologize and were honest.”
  • Danny Tanner - It had to be tough for this single dad raising three daughters after his wife died on “Full House,” he was affectionate, open with his feelings and not afraid to have serious talks with his kids. Tanner taught responsibility & problem-solving, and was always there to listen.
  • Deborah and Ray Barone - The parents from the classic sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond” found ways to balance work, overbearing in-laws, and miscommunication while raising their three kids. Deborah’s patience and Ray’s humor helped make them better parents and partners.
  • Bob and Linda Belcher - They’re not traditional TV parents, but the mom and dad on “Bob’s Burgers” are actually good role models, according to experts. They show unconditional love and acceptance of their quirky kids, and do a great job of handling awkward topics, like puberty and sex, according to psychotherapist Nicholette Leanza. She says, “Modern parents can learn from them to accept their children for who they are.”
  • The Cast of “Modern Family” - Child psychologists say the entire adult cast of the show are doing parenting right. The different parenting styles in each family show there’s not just one right way to raise kids, but they all show up with love, support and compassion, which we could all learn from.
