Dr Warns Botox Is Ruining Relationships

Some people have been getting Botox for so long, they can’t imagine life without it. While fans of the popular cosmetic procedure love it because it can smooth and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the face, there are downsides involved. And one of them could ruin your relationship, according to one expert.

The thing is, Botox injections are actually temporarily paralyzing the muscles in your face, and if it’s overdone, it can sometimes make the face look frozen in one expression. Too much Botox can limit microexpressions, the small facial movements that help us connect with others by revealing our emotions. Facial plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Murphy tells the Daily Mail that when Botox is overdone and limits these subtle signs, it can make it tougher for someone to understand their partner’s emotions.

These “frozen” faces can make communication more challenging for couples because you can’t make natural expressions. The upside? If it happens to you, it’s not permanent. Botox wears off naturally after three to four months, you just have to wait it out.
