Molly Ames happened to be driving to work on the outskirts of Rochester when she saw Mark Reissig, stop peddling his bike and get off. She said "he just didn't look right so I decided to stop and see if he needed some help". Mark is a triathlete who typically rides about 160 miles a week, but he knew something was different this morning. When Molly rolled down her window and asked him if he needed help he started to say "I just need to catch my breath" but as he was saying it he changed it to "call 911".
Molly grabbed her phone and called. She stayed on the phone with the dispatcher Megan Williams who said "I knew then we had to do CPR. Her helping and being calm with me, so I didn't have to calm her down...she was very willing to do that, and that helped a lot."
Molly says "That's how it was able to get done. Megan walking me through it. I was useless on my own, but Megan was so good at walking me through the procedure".
Megan estimates it was about 7 minutes of Molly doing CPR before the emergency responders arrived.
"There's no possible way Mark would have survived till help arrived without Molly".
Mark who is 64 years old says he's never had a health concern in his life! "Not only have I never had any health scares, no one in my family has a history of anything. Doctors tell me this was a massive heart attack, but they still don't know why it happened. All I know is my wife, and children and 6 grandkids...we all thank Molly for saving my life".
