Shania Twain remembered her former band mate, Allison Cornell, a multi-instrumentalist who recently died after a battle with cancer. Twain posted two videos on her social media channels as she mourned Cornell’s loss on Wednesday (February 21), including one of Twain and Cornell in the Dallas Cowboys locker room and another of Cornell talking about her role with the band on a previous tour.

“Allison Cornell was such a talented and wonderful person,” Twain wrote in her caption on Instagram. “It was a privilege, as an artist, to have her on stage with me through a lot of my touring career. Feeling very sad to hear of Allison’s lost battle with cancer, her memory will live on but sadly another beautiful human has gone too soon from this world. Rest in Peace ❤️”

Cornell expressed her appreciation for the fans while she and the rest of the band took the stage. She said in the clip Twain posted on Wednesday morning: “I love looking at the crowd. it’s such a big part of the show for everybody… it’s great. The crowds are the best.”

“The viola is quiet,” reads a statement on management agency JaggerEdge’s website, dated February 19. The site also notes, among other career highlights, that Cornell joined Twain on the international “NOW Tour,” and played violin, accordion, guitar and trumpet. “Rest In Peace Allison you will be terribly missed. “
