Ryan Hurd teamed up with singer-songwriter Heather Russell to deliver a stunning rendition of “Always Remember Us This Way,” originally performed by pop megastar Lady Gaga in A Star is Born. Gaga starred in the 2018 film opposite award-winning actor Bradley Cooper.
In the video Hurd shared on Instagram on Tuesday (January 16), Hurd sat next to Russell at a piano. She played the piano while they both covered the 2018 ballad. Hurd said in his caption that the ballad is “one of those songs you wish you wrote.” He credited songwriters Lori McKenna, Natalie Hemby, Hillary Lindsey and Gaga, and noted that “if you don’t know Heather, you should.” Russell has an LP slated to release on Friday, January 26. She wrote in the comments on Hurd's post: “this was so fun to record. To many more!!!”
Hurd recently confirmed he’s “back at it” in the recording studio, responding to a commenter who wrote, “we need new Ryan music in 2024!!!” Hurd didn’t reveal at that time when we might get new music from him. His last full-length album, Pelago, made its debut in October 2021. Pelago included “Pass It On,” “June, July, August,” “What Are You Drinking,” and “Chasing After You,” the duet he released with now-ex-wife Maren Morris.
