Teen Repairing And Giving Away Bikes

15-year-old Brody Hicks collects discarded bikes from local landfills and fixes them up to give to local children who don’t have bicycles.

The high school sophomore from Perry Ohio was featured on WKYC-TV news last year, leading to increased support for his charity Upcycle Cycles. The exposure brought in donations of bikes and funds that he used to expand his program, fixing more bikes and also providing helmets.

Hicks set an ambitious goal of repairing and donating 50 bikes by the end of the academic year, but through his dedication and hard work, he’s already surpassed that goal, donating a total of 72 bicycles. The teen plans to continue his mission and is hoping to gain new partnerships, enabling him to give out even more bikes to those in need.
