Brooks Ramsey and his wife Christy live in East Tennessee in a small town called Sevierville. Back in 2019 they felt led by God to throw a Thanksgiving dinner for the poor in their community. They held it at a local restaurant and everyone agreed it was a magical moment. But then 2020 hit and the restaurants were all closed for Thanksgiving. Similar problems hit in 2021. 2022 they probably should have but they were just not feeling like it. Then they were approached this Summer by Krystal LaFallette, who runs a ministry called Compassion Sewers. She talked about how many folks still discuss that event and what it meant to them.
Chubby’s restaurant is providing the venue and more than 20 other local businesses will be providing the food, beverages entertainment and more. The Ramseys and these businesses have come together to ensure that locals facing hardships have access to a festive meal, especially those who don’t have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with. They say as of right now it looks like 200 people will attend!
