Medical Miracle Cures Boy Of Sickle Cell Anemia

Tobi Okunseinde of Haworth, New Jersey was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia when he was 1. It's a very a painful, life-shortening blood disease. The condition had never been cured.

Tobi's parents learned recently of some new experiments that include bone marrow transplants that have been successful. They needed to get approved for the experimental procedure. They also needed to get a volunteer who would match Tobi for the transplant. Sadly parents rarely work. But his brother was a perfect match and happily signed up for the procedure.

Now Aalittle more than a year after getting the life-altering donation, Tobi was declared free from sickle cell anemia

The boys’ father, Fotu Okunseinde, is grateful to have two healthy sons now and acknowledges Kwasi’s role in saving his brother's life. Now five-and-a-half-years-old, Tobi is aware that his little brother is responsible for his turn of fate and is calling Kwasi his savior.
