Work is underway to distribute mobile hotspots and monthly internet service to at least 100,000 households across South Carolina, according to state education officials. The monthly service will be paid for qualified families through the end of the year.
To be qualified the family will have an annual income of 250% or less of federal poverty guidelines, an individual attending a school, and no existing internet service.
I found the 2019 South Carolina income guidelines here. For example if you have 3 people in the house you can make up to just over $53,000 annually and still qualify for this!
Information from the South Carolina Department of Education says paperwork has been sent to school districts and higher education institutions across the state for orders for mobile hotspots and monthly internet service.
