Lady A Has A Big Problem With... Lady A

Lady A’s decision to drop Antebellum from their name has created a problem when it was revealed there is another artist who has trademarked Lady A decades ago. A Seattle based, 61-year-old African American blues singer, whose real name is Anita White. Well, now the country Lady A has confirmed that they are trying to work things out with Anita. And yesterday they were feeling pretty good about those efforts!

The group posted on its Instagram.“Today, we connected privately with the artist Lady A. Transparent, honest, and authentic conversations were had. We are excited to share we are moving forward with positive solutions and common ground. The hurt is turning into hope. More to come.

That celebration of common ground and positive solutions was a bit premature as Anita's Instagram post has a substantially different take on the conversation. "How can you say Black Lives Matter and put your knee on the neck of another Black artist? I'm not mad..I am however not giving up my name, my brand I worked hard for".

Anita tells Newsday she'll have more to say about it Wednesday. Her 5th album "Lady A: Live From New Orleans" Is scheduled to be released July 18th.
