Clemson's Tee Higgins Profiled In Struggle Porn

Yahoo News has a story about the NFL draft that just wrapped up and how, many viewers were upset with the way ESPN portrayed the players when they were drafted. Clemson's Tee Higgins is shown as an example.

ESPN’s “Get to Know” graphic alongside Higgins’ headshot included this: “Mom, Camilia, fought drug addiction for 16 years.”

Come again?

ESPN has since apologized, with draft producer Seth Markman saying the graphic “should not have aired.” Higgins tweeted that he was proud of his mother for turning her life around; she’s been sober for a decade.

However many of the players drafted had sad stories included in their "get to know" graphic. Trevon Diggs father died of heart failure in 2008. Laviska Shenault Jr. mom battled West Nile virus in 2012.

Twitter users who were watching the draft got the hashtag "struggle porn" trending.

Many people believe that when celebrating someone's accomplishment it would be best to not bring up their parents troubles with drugs, domestic violence, prison, homelessness etc.
