Stranger Pays For 5k In Groceries To Help Elderly

Some senior citizens who went to a Stop & Shop supermarket in Provincetown, Massachusetts over the weekend were treated to a big surprise when they found out an anonymous donor had paid for their groceries! The unnamed person reached out to the store to help during the coronavirus outbreak and ended up buying $5-thousand worth of gift cards to give to people shopping during the seniors-only hours between 6 and 7:30am.

The generous donor is reportedly a resident of Provincetown who wanted to help support the community and it came at a perfect time. Stop & Shop manager Melinda McCarthy says one elderly woman had run out of government assistance for food and couldn’t stop crying when she found out about the donation.

“It was super satisfying for all of us,” McCarthy says.
