A compassionate veterinarian has been treating homeless people’s pets across California for the last nine years.Dr. Kwane Stewart started by setting up a table at a soup kitchen near Modesto in 2011, offering to treat and vaccinate pets of the homeless there.
Since then, he started hitting the streets to offer to treat pets of homeless people, and he’s helped more than 4000 homeless people pets so far. Stewart started aGoFundMeto cover costs for his mission and has raised $35-thousand to pay for animal treatments. He was also named the GoFundMe Hero of February.
“I don’t ever want to have to turn anybody away,” Stewart says. “The look on people’s faces when they get their pets back, especially after a surgery or a life-saving procedure—those are moments I’ll remember forever.”
