WWII Vet "Major Bill" Receives 70,000 Valentine's Day Cards

Major Bill,” is a 104-year-old Marine veteran who earned a Purple Heart in WWII at Iwo Jima. He enlisted in 1934! He is the oldest living Marine in history.

These days Bill likes to collect cards.

Bill wanted Valentine’s Day cards from people all over to add to his collection of memories. Well, we’re happy to update this story and tell you William White’s wish was granted and he received 70-thousand cards!

The World War II vet’s “Operation Valentine” campaign crushed its goal of 100 cards and the mountain of mail Major Bill has received is from folks in every state and a few foreign countries, too. Surrounded by his waist-high stacks of boxes from the post office, he says, “It’s just too fantastic.”

If you would like to send him a card here's the address.
