Chocolate Lovers Beware of Price Hike Coming

My wife Angela loves chocolate. While others travel to cities to explore their museums, we explore their chocolate shops. So this news is going to hurt her a lot!

The world's top producers of cocoa, which is the main ingredient in chocolate, Ghana and Ivory Coast, have recently joined forced and formed what is being called the cocoa cartel. They are responsible for two thirds of the worlds cocoa. They announced that they are raising prices $500 per ton in October. That is a 16% increase from $2500 per ton to $2900 per ton. The plan is set to be the biggest overhaul of the world's cocoa market in decades, according to the Wall Street Journal.

If you want to buy your chocolate before the prices go up and store it the experts say don't store it in the fridge, but in a cool room at 68 degrees in an airtight container. If you do this, dark chocolate will stay fresh for two years!
