South Carolina Has A Russian Spy Ship Just Off Coast

A Russian surveillance ship, the Viktor Leonov, has been sailing off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia the last few days, according to US officials. The U.S. Coast Guard is now broadcasting a "Marine Safety Information Bulletin" to mariners in the area.The Coast Guard says this ship is not using running lights and is not responding to hails from commercial vessels attempting to avoid potential accidents.

The US Navy now has a Destroyer, USS Mahan, mirroring the Russian ship.

The Viktor Leonov has patrolled international waters along the east coast of the US, every year since 2015.

In 2017 U.S. military became very concerned when the ship was spotted 30 miles off the Connecticut coast.
