Just in time for the holidays, dozens of children have been adopted in South Carolina. Governor Henry McMaster declared November 25th Adoption Day in the state in an announcement on November 6th. Yesterday we heard that 80 kids now have families as a result.
The 80 children were adopted by 60 families across South Carolina and McMaster says he hopes this will raise awareness about the 140 kids in the state’s foster care system who are in need of a permanent home. There are some amazing videos and pictures of the adoptions on the Dept of Social Services Twitter page.
“A loving home can make all the difference to a child’s future,” McMaster explains. “Our state is filled with caring, and compassionate people who want the best for their neighbors, and I ask that everyone consider whether adoption is an option for your family.”
