Alesha Nemechek shared a story on Facebook about her 85-year-old grandfather, “Papa Joe.” He’s been struggling with Alzheimer's, but asked her to take him shopping at Walmart and she was happy to do it.
She watched as he took “the tiniest steps” around the store, using his cane to get around and when she noticed the items he was adding to the cart, she realized they were all of her grandmother’s favorite things. His memory may be slipping, but he remembered his wife of 60 years favorite soda, favorite grapes, and lemon pie. Alesha writes that her eyes welled with tears when he “hobbled over” to pick out a bouquet of fresh flowers, carefully choosing the one with the most purple, her favorite color.
“May we all take a lesson from Papa Joe,” Alesha writes. “Never stop being intentional!!!”
