Community rallies to bring Christmas cheer to the troops

Folks in the community of Omaha, Nebraska took time out of their busy Saturday to help spread holiday cheer to U.S. service members. They came out to the American Legion Post 331, where tables were set up with cards and candy and anyone could write as many holiday cards as they wanted to troops serving overseas.

Master Scott Marasco with the U.S. Army Reserves joined in on the card making. He served in 1990 and still has the Christmas card he got while deployed. It was addressed to “Anyone’s grandson from the state of Nebraska.” He says what seems like a simple gesture has a really big impact on the service members, adding, “Here we are in 2019 and I still have that card.”
