Mother In Law wants to breast feed grandchild

A pregnant woman writes on Reddit that her mother-in-law has been reading a bunch of articles about how in different cultures it’s the grandmother who nurses the child and has strongly hinted that it’s something she wants to do.

The mom-to-be adds that no matter how much she says "no," her MIL continues sending articles about all the benefits. And PS? The grandma in question is in her 60s. As you can imagine, the Internet was having none of this MIL’s ridiculous request.

  • “All jokes aside, this is a hill to die on,” one person writes. ‘I’ve heard of MILs using grandchildren as do over babies but this is ridiculous." While another adds, "MIL is 60+ and her kitchen is closed,” noting, “There is no need for granny to volunteer to feed your child. She had her chance to breastfeed her children; now it is your turn.”
  • Meanwhile, a lot of folks are coming down hard on the hubby for not confronting his mom. "Your husband should be the one shutting her down!" one commenter noted. "'Out of respect' for your husband? I’m sorry, but where the [expletive] is HIS respect for YOU? He needs to tell his mom to stop. Now." While another added “Your husband needs to pull his head out of his [expletive] and realize and explicitly tell his mom that she will never be allowed alone with this baby,"
  • The pregnant wife responded "He is very supportive but hates upsetting his mom, which I get, but it can’t be at my expense which is how it feels right now," she added. "He is tired of talking about it, this started around Labor Day, but with no resolve or boundaries I just can’t get over it."
