The "OK" Hand Gesture Is Now Classified as a Hate Symbol

It would appear that giving someone the "OK" hand gesture these days could land you in hot water.

The Anti-Defamation League has now released an updated list of things they classify as hate symbols. Included in this list of 37 items is the classic "OK" gesture a person makes with there hands.

It started off as a plan by people on message boards on websites like 4chan, 8chan, and Reddit to "troll" people by claiming the "OK" hand gesture was actually a way to make the letters "WP" with your hand, for "white power."

But then some actual white supremacists actually started using the "OK" gesture. Brenton Tarrant who killed 51 people at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, flashed the "OK" symbol during a courtroom appearance

However, the Anti-Defamation League says that they were reluctant to add the "OK" gesture because so many still use it to mean "OK", but the amount of people using it as a hate symbol forced it them to add it.

Other things that are listed as hate symbols now include bowl haircuts because Dylann Roof had one and Pepe the Frog because someone used the character in a nazi themed cartoon.
