Tropical Storm Barry brought dangerous conditions to Panama City Beach, Florida, leaving swimmers fighting rip currents. Panama City Beach Fire Rescue officials warned everyone to “STAY OUT OF THE WATER” after receiving many calls for swimmers in distress, but not everyone listened. They made around 38 water rescues and dozens of good samaritans formed a human chain to rescue one swimmer.
Videofootage of the incidentshows all the people lined up, some on surfboards, during the rescue. A witness postedon Twitterthat a deputy told him the swimmer “had a belly full of salt water and was going to be sick for a while.”
