Remember when Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan was in that band Zwan? Well, those guys don't play together anymore and now I think we know why!
In a recent interview with Kreative Kontrol Podcast Corgan's former bandmate David Pajo compared Billy to our current president Donald Trump.
Hmmm...while Corgan has defended Trump in the past, I really don't think he should take this as a compliment. When you see what he said about Corgan you'll understand why.
âWhen the campaign was happening, I was like, âWow, Trump is so much like Corgan. Iâm sure Billy loves this guy. I know heâs a Trump supporter. He has to be. Heâs got millions of dollars. Heâs got that ego. He loves the bully mentality.ââ
âI donât keep up with him, and I donât wanna talk bad about him, but I wouldnât be surprised at all if he was a Trump supporter. In fact, Iâd be more surprised if he wasnât.â
â[Corgan] can very convincingly front that heâs a sensitive liberal person, but maybe now that Trumpâs made it OK to not act like that, for people like him, heâs gonna start shouting that.â
âWhen Smashing Pumpkinsâ last one or two records didnât sell that well, Billy went on this rant about how he was disappointed in his fans for not understanding the record and not buying it. Thatâs such a weird thing to me [laughs]. To scold your fans for not buying your record. But that is the way he thinks.â
âAnd when bands like the White Stripes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Interpol were starting up in the New York scene, he would say stuff to me, like, to him they were all just little bands. He was like, âthe biggest White Stripes sold this much; my records have totally slaughtered them!'â
Yeah...I'm guessing he won't take any of this as a compliment.
