2-thousand U.S. adults who’ve recently gone on or plan to go on a road trip about their snacking preferences and found:
- Americans’ favorite snack brands for summer road trips are Cheez-Its and Pringles.
- But there’s plenty of room for more options, as nine out of 10 roadtrippers eat more than one snack during their travels.
- Different age groups have different snacking styles and Gen Z is all about sour and spicy-flavored snacks. They’re also twice as likely as other generations to travel with a friend group.
- Gen Z is the most likely to want adventurous snack flavors, like sour and bitter and savory and spicy.
- Millennials tend to prefer tangy-flavored snacks more than any other generation.
- They’re also more likely to buy snacks that will keep the whole family happy, as 40% say their kids munch every mile.
- Gen X reportedly doesn’t pack snacks because they prefer to buy them on the road. But they’re up for almost anything, from crackers to chips to protein snacks.
- Both Gen X and boomers prefer salty and sweet flavors and tend to hit the road alone or with a travel buddy.
- Snack habits vary by region, too. In the South, they go for salty, sweet and chocolatey snacks.
- Those in the Northeast are twice as likely as Midwesterners to eat something creamy-flavored.
- Out West and near the Pacific Coast, almost anything goes for snacks, as they’re 1.4 times more likely to eat whatever’s available.
