Phil Foust, from Columbia drove about 100 miles to the Whataburger grand opening in Spartanburg. The Post & Courier reports he had to duck out of church early in order to arrive around 11 AM. The grand opening was 11 AM Monday but he wanted to be first in line because that person would get 52 free burger cards.
AOL reports that on September 9th Phil was the first in line at grand opening of Whataburger in Irmo. They didn't say what time he arrived for that.
Phil loves going to grand openings! His first wait was for a Chick-fil-A grand opening a decade ago got him hooked. He now estimates at least 20 times he's been first for a grand opening!
