In 2015 Joshua Frierson was a college student who needed help after the flood destroyed most of his stuff including the place he lived. Bishop Tyrone Rose from Liberty Church in West Columbia was one of the people who opened their homes to help those young people. Tyrone tells WIS “He came to my house- we cooked for him, and they sang and we played the piano.” After Joshua was able to move out they tried staying in touch but the frequency decreased to the point where it had been several years since they had seen each other.
This year Joshua lost his Grandmother and brother in just a couple of days. It was too much for him. "I was like- ‘I just gotta get away from the pain.’”
He was on Clemson Road and as he arrived at the Two Notch Rd overpass and pulled over. “I looked over and saw the trucks and cars passing by. And I said- this is it. I’m done.”
At that very moment Bishop Rose was driving by. “The Holy Spirit said- ‘Turn around and check on that guy.’” When he walking up to Joshua he didn't recognize him at first. I just asked "Are you OK"? Joshua was crying said "I'm not". Joshua turned to face him and couldn't believe what he was seeing through his tears. "Is that Bishop Rose"? Rose recognized Joshua too now and said "it is Joshua. You're going to be OK".
That was over the Summer. Joshua is doing much better now and is now a music minster at his church in Orangeburg. "I can explain to everyone that I've been as low as you, and God met me on that bridge. Ask for Him to help you and He will. That help might not look like you expected but that's God doing His thing".
