Chick-fil-A Staff Helps Dying Customer Fulfill Bucket List

52 years ago Bill and Becky of Houston TX got married. About 20 years ago they came up with a bucket list idea of visiting every state capitol in America. They made it to 49. Bill was diagnosed with terminal cancer and it became physically impossible for the elderly couple to travel to the last capital on their list: Juneau, Alaska.

Bill & Becky love the Chick-fil-A at Springwoods Village. Lonestar Live reports that they became regulars for the weekly morning bingo and Becky even won free Chick-fil-A for a year in 2017 for the restaurant’s grand opening as one of the first 100 guests. When the restaurant's owner, Mike Magdaleno, heard that Bill wasn't going to be able to make the final trip he wanted to do something special for him.

He contacted an employee at the Alaska State Capitol, who agreed to help. Mike sent a life size cutout of Bill and Becky’s wedding photo and the Capitol employee took it to various locations around the Capitol. Then the employee even signed Bill & Becky's names into the visitor log, making their virtual visit official.

The Springwoods Village Chick-fil-A crew all pitched in to buy mementos of their "trip," including a scrapbook with the Capitol photos, personalized gifts, and a drawing of the couple in front of Juneau’s Mendenhall Glacier. Bill and Becky mean a lot to every person who works here and it's an honor to have been able to help the couple complete the item from their bucket list.
