The Longwood Florida Police Department responded to a call from an irate woman about an "illegal" lemonade stand run without a permit. When they arrived on the scene they found 6 year old Jayana Timmons was selling lemonade on the sidewalk in front of her house. Three Longwood officers investigated but found that Jayana was not blocking traffic and in that county doesn’t need a permit for her stand.
"We had a great time chatting with the young business owner, offering some friendly smiles and making sure safety came first. It was a chance to turn a simple lemonade stand into a lifelong core memory for the child and our officers, while showing what community policing is all about. Instead of shutting it down, our officers took a different approach – they bought some lemonade!
No word on what the caller did when she saw the Police not only not shutting down the stand, but actually supporting it.
