WBBH TV reports that a 12 year old girl was getting ready for school alone at her home in Cape Coral FL. Her mom was at work and got an alert that there was a fire at her house. She was able to see the smoke filling her home and called her daughter to see where she was. She was still in her room. The mom was able to see where the fire was which happened to be in the garage and spreading into the kitchen. As she started to tell her daughter the route to take in order escape the fire, she responded I can't leave without our puppies!
One dog named Big Momma was already in the room with the girl as she began calling for the other 3, thankfully they all came just as the ceiling in her bedroom began to collapse Then while still on the phone with her mom she followed her moms instructions and led the 4 dogs through the smoke filled home to safety.
The Cape Coral FD says the entire home was destroyed and the family lost everything except the 5 things that meant the most to them. Their brave little girl and their 4 dogs.
By the way the fire started because a TV in the garage was plugged in directly to the wall. The Fire Dept says “Remember to always plug appliances and major electronics directly into the wall or into a surge protector,”
