81 year old Kayren Spain describes herself as a “football fanatic” who’s always had an interest in quarterbacks, way back to the 1960's with Alabama QB Joe Namath.
The lifelong Alabama resident has moved on from college to the NFL with her recent obsession.
Karyen saw a youtube video with Henry Winkler meeting Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.
She then looked up some of Patrick's highlights and became obsessed with him, watching all of the Chiefs games every week. Kayren decided it would be her mission to meet Mahomes before she “croaks.”
She started making her own Mahomes-themed clothing and began posting videos to social media to draw attention to her goal. Eventually, she caught the attention of Patrick's mom Randi Mahomes.
This led to her getting tix to a game in Kansas City where she got to meet Randi, take some pictures together, and try to arrange a meeting with Patrick. It wasn't meant to be on that day.
Then last week, Kayren got her chance. At a Chiefs training camp event in St. Joseph, Missouri, with the help of fellow fans who'd heard her story, she was able to get close to the front of the crowd where Mahomes approached her and signed her watercolor paintings. They talked briefly and he told her that his mom had told him about her. Following the meeting, Spain shared her joy on social media, inspiring others to believe that "dreams really do come true."
