A Beaufort SC woman was on her way to work last week when she decided to stop, get a coffee and buy a lottery ticket. She thought to herself "who knows, this could be my lucky day". She put it in her car and drove to work at her office where she had worked for years. Shortly after arriving she was called into a meeting and told they were downsizing and she was part of that reduction in force. So not so lucky after all.
She drove home stunned.
She started calling friends to tell them the horrible news and see if anyone had leads on a new job. She needed to work a few more years to be eligible for social security.
A few days later she saw that ticket and decided to check it. She won a half million!
"That's more than I would make in 10 years, so I'm officially retired now"!
Turns out that day last week was her lucky day. She just didn't know for about a week.
Due to SC privacy laws her name is being withheld. The winning ticket was purchased at the Old Pantry store.
