Inflatable World in Mission Valley, California has all kinds of bounce houses and inflatable trucks, planes, and trains. Kim Miller is the manager and says last Thursday was a regular day but because of one incident she will remember it the rest of her life. She heard screaming and noticed one of her employees, Jazmine, started running toward a car in the parking lot.
Jazmine says she saw a man pull up in a car, grab a young girl, and started walking away with her. She said her gut told her this guy wasn't a relative so she didn’t hesitate before running to save the girl. Kim said the only thing she heard Jazmine say was 'kid'. She didn't know if she was saying kidnapping or kid hurt or whatever but knew from the urgency in Jazmine's voice that this was serious and had something to do with a kid. Jazmine caught the guy as he was trying to stuff the child in his car. As she began hitting him, Kim caught up and she began wrestling him as well. Then a man stepped up and bear hugged the suspect so Kim could get authorities there.
Jazmine’s decisive action prevented a potential tragedy and now she’s being widely praised. 42-year-old Rene Lujan has been arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping in this case, and also hit with another attempted kidnapping charge for an incident Tuesday night.
Jazmine says she can't stop thinking about what if he got away. Once you leave the property we have several different freeways. He could have gone anywhere. Would she even be alive today if he got her off the property? It just turns my stomach when I think about it.
After the incident, Kim treated Jazmine and the girl to treats from the snack bar as a reward for their bravery. Miller says that heroes can come from anywhere, and sometimes it’s a stranger that can be the one to save a child’s life.
