It's 2:30 Sunday morning and 20 year old Cam Davis is driving home from his job near Surfside Beach. He saw what he believed was a young child on the highway. He swerved and then stopped his vehicle. He tried asking "where's your parents", but the child was too young to speak.
Cam put his flashers on, picked up the boy who was only wearing a diaper and put him in his car. He then called Horry County Police. “I called, and I was like, ‘Hey, I know this sounds crazy but I found a child in the middle of the road without any parents around’.
Thankfully the police had recently received a call from a frantic mother that said her son had fallen asleep on the couch with her but when she woke up he was gone.
The police were already looking for the boy nearby so they were to Cam in less than a minute.
Officers said Cam looked very relieved when they arrived to take the child off his hands.
When WMBF-TV asked Cam about how he feels saving a baby's life; "I don't feel like a hero. Maybe I saved a Father’s Day. I would just say, right place, right time, you know?"
