WNCN-TV Raleigh reports that Wednesday morning a car got stuck on the train tracks. Aziz Habties knows the trains schedule, and knew that a train was due within 60 seconds. He eased his own car up to the back bumper to try and push the vehicle off the tracks.
But the car was really stuck. Then he heard the train horn and the gates closing. When he realized he only had seconds left before the train arrived, Aziz screamed for the driver to get out of the car and helped him get out of the way as the Amtrak train with 92 passengers onboard collided with both of their vehicles.
Parts of the vehicles flew more than 50 feet. Bystanders were shocked by the collision!
The incident affected train service and closed road for about 3 hours but thanks to the quick actions of Aziz, tragedy was averted.
Despite the loss of his own vehicle, Aziz says "Thank God for putting me in a position to help that man".
