DC Tow truck Driver Becomes Hero

Nemr Ibrahim was sitting in his tow truck at a gas station in Northeast DC while filling out some paperwork around 3:30 last Wednesday afternoon. Fox 5 reports that he looked up and was shocked at what he saw.

He saw an elderly man being assaulted as he was pumping gas. Nemr guessed because the younger man was trying to steal his Audi SUV.

Surveillance footage shows Ibrahim running from his truck bear hugging the attacker and holding down. The older man ran inside and they called the cops.

In an interview with reporters,Nemr said that he was scared at first. That dude was bigger and younger then me. But I feel great now that it's over. "One God, one life. When my time is coming I’ll go, but I have to save the older guy, felt better knowing he had saved someone's life. He says he was motivated to help the elderly victim, citing a sense of duty and the importance of valuing human life. The victim, Charles Gladden, said he was highly vulnerable not only because he's almost 80, but recently had a knee replacement.

According to D.C. police, the suspect was arrested for attempted carjacking and was reported to be highly intoxicated during the incident. Thanks to the swift action of Ibrahim and the timely response of law enforcement, a potentially tragic outcome was prevented.
