This week was Jackson Romrell’s first day of kindergarten. Tragically, his father, South Salt Lake, Utah, Police Officer David Paul Romrell, was killed in the line of duty in 2018, but Jackson wouldn’t be alone during this special day. He would have his mother, Elizabeth, and more than a dozen of his father’s coworkers to escort him to his first day of school.
The South Salt Lake Police Department shared pictures of the heartwarming moment on their Facebook page. "The son of Fallen South Salt Lake Police Officer David P. Romrell walked to school with his mom and several fill in 'Dads' today," the post reads.
This gesture was received warmly by the community with many leaving supportive comments to the post. "This is beautiful! Thank you SSLPD!," one commenter writes. "So special!! Thanks SSLPD for taking care of Jackson. ❤️," another comments.
