11 year old Shayden Walker of Amarillo, Texas was desperate. The kids of his neighborhood had bullied him and he was desperate for a friend. He has been diagnosed with several mental disorders which makes him a bit different from his peers. Shayden got an idea to go door to door and ask about kids who might live there. Brennan Ray's doorbell cam captured their conversation.
“Um, I just wanted to see if you knew any kids around like 11 or 12, maybe. I need some friends, like really bad.” Brennan says the only kid he knows is his daughter but she's only 2. He asked if Shayden wanted to meet her. “Oh great! I love 2-year-olds, to be honest, they’re like the most cutest things I’ve ever known.”
Brennan posted the video on TikTok and it has over 70 million views! He then started a Go Fund Me campaign for Shayden.
"We are raising money to help buy him a gaming system, school clothes and hopefully some amusement park tickets and anything else he may want or need. 100% of the donations will be given directly to Shayden and his family, he may raise enough to take a family trip. Let’s continue to show kindness to Shayden, and raise awareness for bullying and suicide prevention!"
So far over 3100 people have donated $37,000!
I believe that Shayden's plea demonstrates that God made humans to be in community. That's why solitary confinement is one of the worst things the prison can threaten an inmate with.
