Dwayne Johnson Righting An Old Wrong?

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson posted on social media about his return to Hawaii. Part of that included returning to the 7/11 where he stole Snickers bars almost every day for a year when he was 14. He explained that "we were broke as hell" and Snickers was his pre workout snack of choice. So now that he is a very successful man he wanted to "right the wrong". He also said he had to "exorcise the old demons".

He had his assistant film him while he grabs every Snickers and puts them into a bag. Then he paid for all of them showing his receipt of $298. Then he told the clerk to give them to whomever he wants.

I'm confused because this actually doesn't help the store. They were going to sell those Snickers bars. And $300 seems pretty low. Typically the smaller ones sell for around 1.50 each. Then you have state and federal sales tax. Actually in Hawaii they try to trick the folks because there is no local sales tax. Instead they have a 4% General Excise Tax. That GET tax is simply passed on by local business owners in the form of a higher retail price, which of course means more federal taxes. So it's about $2 per bar so he bought about 150 of them which wouldn't equal the amount he stole if he actually stole one almost every single day. Even if he took weekends off and only worked out on weekdays that's 260 days a year.

In reality he should have just gave the store $1000 for his theft in my opinion. Furthermore the injured party of 1985 is likely no longer involved with 7/11 so there is no way to recompense them! This is all about Dwayne making himself feel better while not actually helping the people he injured in the first place.
