Mayor Saves A Family From A Literal Train Wreck

Some folks vote for a candidate because they believe that individual will make their lives better. Rodreka Morgan voted for Eddie Daniels, to be the mayor of Vienna Georgia in 2019. She never met him and only hoped that he would improve life for all citizens of Vienna. She had no idea that he would actually save her life!

Eddie was on his way to work early this past Saturday, when he saw an SUV parked on the railroad tracks.

In the vehicle was Rodreka and her three children, ages one-, three-, and six-years-old. Daniels got the mother out of the car and was helping the two smaller children out when he spotted a train barrelling down the tracks toward them. He was pulling the six-year-old from the car when the train smashed into it.

Daniels was hit with flying debris from the impact, was treated for a broken ankle and had to get eight stitches on his head, but the children all made it out safe thanks to his heroic act. He told the local TV stations “I’m out here just doing God’s work, that’s what we’re supposed to do. And they told me I was a hero. I said, ‘I don’t feel like a hero... just feel like I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, what the people elected me to do,’”

An investigation of how the car ended up on the tracks has now been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol, according to Vienna police
