William Shatner Thanks Fruit Stand Owner & Cops

Customers accidentally leaving things behind while shopping is something that merchants deal with all the time, but Gary Tognetti, the owner of the Fruit Barn on Pacheco Pass Highway in Gilroy, California, had a unique experience when William Shatner left his wallet behind in a bin of corn while buying fruit.

Tognetti called his friend Mark Tarasco, an officer with the Gilroy Police Department, and asked him “Hey, how do I get a hold of a celebrity?” It didn’t take much time to do exactly that; within two hours they found Shatner, confirmed the wallet was his and FedExed it to him. Shatner shared a special thanks on Twitter, and the police officers and fruit stand owner now have a story to tell for the rest of their lives.
