Teen Stops Friends Suicide

An Arizona teen was saved from an apparent suicide attempt after an online friend in a foreign country notified authorities. A 15-year-old boy in Queen Creek, Arizona, was playing a multi-player game online and told one of his online gaming friends that he was considering suicide.

The other player, who was reportedly in either Europe, took it upon himself to figure out how to contact authorites in the U.S. He notified federal authorities in DC who then reached out to the local authorities who were able to track down his home address. “So our officer was dispatched to the house to do a welfare check to see what was going on and verify this.”

Queen Creek police officer Simon Lopez went to the home and spoke to the teen’s parents, who were unaware of the situation. When they went to check on the young man, they found him unresponsive. Had it been another few minutes the boy would have passed and the parents would have had no idea till they checked on him to say goodnight. Lopez was able to immediately give him a dose of Narcan, a nasal spray that can reverse opioid overdoses, and then he was then transported to the hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
